Guide Pins

Minic Precision Inc. offers superior quality guide pins with up to a 16 micro surface finish. Straight pins, knurled pins, threaded pins, tapered pins, pogo pins, precision ground pins, and miniature pins are just a few of the types of guide pins we can manufacture. Material type, hardness, finish and tolerance all play a crucial role in the precision machining of guide pins.

Guide pins are used to align mating connectors. They also can be used to help prevent contact damage due to mismatching mating connectors. Our custom machined guide pins are commonly manufactured from materials like alloy steel, which is very strong and can easily withstand wear and tear.

Knurled pins can feature straight or helical knurls. This surface ribbing allows for the uniform distribution of the retention force. Knurled pins work best with materials that are soft or have thin cross sections. Threaded pins provide strong rigidity and shear resistance, while tapered pins are best suited for close and tight connections.

Guide pins at Minic Precision Inc. are available in lengths ranging from 0.010 to 10.00 inches with diameters ranging from 0.010 to 1.00 inches. The tolerances of our pins can be maintained up to ± 0.0001 inches. Swiss automatic screw machines are computer controlled which ensures the precise lathing, turning and machining of our high quality parts. Our CNC Swiss turning machines offer high speed machining with closer tolerances. Finer details are created through the CNC machining process.

Precision pins are typically utilized in electronic assemblies and as locking mechanisms in unit assemblies. They are also used as fasteners. The surface of these guide pins are enhanced through a series of secondary services such as broaching, grinding, heat treating, plating, tapping, thread rolling and tumbling.
